Cognitive Intervention

As speech-language pathologists, we think that cognitive intervention is an important part of our work with people whose minds aren't working as well as they used to. We can help our patients improve their cognitive functioning, improve their quality of life, and reach their goals by giving them interventions that are backed up by evidence.

In the first 15 minutes of a cognitive intervention session, we focus on building rapport with the patient and establishing goals for the session. We take the time to understand the patient's strengths and weaknesses and identify areas in which they want to improve.

We use a variety of evidence-based techniques and strategies to improve cognitive functioning, such as memory training, attention training, problem-solving, and decision-making activities. We also provide education and support to the patient's family and caregivers, helping them to understand the patient's cognitive needs and how they can support their loved one's cognitive functioning at home.

Our ultimate goal is to help our patients achieve greater independence, improve their cognitive functioning, and enhance their quality of life. By providing effective cognitive intervention, we can help our patients regain the skills and abilities they need to participate fully in their daily activities and achieve their personal goals.
